Concertino Grosso (2012)

Instrumentation: string quartet, string orchestra

An early work for string quartet and string orchestra, inspired by similar works such as Benjamin Lee’s Concerto for String Quartet and Michael Tippett’s Concerto for Double String Orchestra. I was fascinated by the idea of having multiple soloists in a concerto, since I thought that it would give access to both the sound worlds of chamber and orchestral music. I think the results are mixed, and there are things I would have done differently. The piece has never been performed; this file was generated using Sibelius Sound Essentials 6.
